| They Won't Know What Hit Them
Green, Joshua
The Atlantic Monthly, March 2007, v299,
#2, pp76-83
This article provides a brief history of gay participation
in government, as well as anti-gay politics in American politics.
The author speaks with Danny Carroll, former Republican speaker
for Iowa's House of Representatives, as well as Tim Gill, the founder
of the publishing-software giant Quark Inc., and for a long time,
one of the few openly gay members of the Forbes 400 list of the
richest Americans. He looks at a variety of issues in both state
and federal politics, as well as issues such as gay marriage bans
and AIDS initiatives. Joshua Green is a senior
editor of The Atlantic.
