Kannankutty, Nirmala; Burelli, Joan
National Science Foundation, InfoBrief, Science Resources Statistics, June 2007, 8p
In 2003, of the 21.6 million scientists and engineers in the United States, 16% (3,352,000) were immigrants. This InfoBrief describes some of this group's major characteristics in 2003 and profiles immigrant scientists, including their country of birth, the age they came to the U.S., and the extent of their education in their home country and in the U.S. Both authors are affiliated with the National Science Foundation’s Division of Science Resources Statistics.
