"What will NATO look like in the future? To define this will remain the great challenge to a new strategic concept in 2009. We must analyse the situation, identify threats, find answers to the most urgent questions, define new tasks. The old defense alliance NATO used to be does no longer exist. But what do we see in its place? NATO will never be able to become a truly global alliance, because in its essence it is Euro-Atlantic community." NATO is no global police force.
